Something old and something new.

One strategy for introducing new foods is to do so with old favorites. We utilized that strategy this week when we had grilled chicken breasts with melon salsa. Who doesn’t like chicken, right? And who hasn’t had it a million times? I barely seasoned the chicken before grilling, just a bit of salt and pepper, so it was familiar and approachable for the kids. Then we tried this new melon salsa from Cooking Light. I used cantaloupe and watermelon. Obviously I had no agave nectar in the house, so I used a teeny bit of splenda. It was really refreshing and would taste good over fish or pork too. The kids ate it up without a peep. We also had rolls to fill out the meal. I like to buy the frozen french rolls from Whole Foods when I go so we have fresh-tasting bread available when needed. Here is what it all looked like:
